Assembling a Bobbin junior bike is really easy and fun. Please click here to view our step by step guide to assembling the bike.

The bike arrives in a box. The handlebars, front wheel, front mudguard, pedals and saddle must be attached.
For Bikes that included a basket, it is attached simply by the straps. Only the Gingersnap 24" comes with a basket support.
The box contains basic tools. You will also need scissors, pliers, a screwdriver and a pump.

Some things to note:

The basket is not machine made, it is hand woven from natural materials. Inconsistencies in weave, finish and colour are to be expected and are part of its charm.

Finding the correct size bike starts with measuring the legs. Take a measuring tape, place it on the floor inside the leg and measure upwards. Now check the chart below.

If two sizes fit, go for the bigger. It will fit for longer whilst your child grows.

Easily adjust the saddle height for your little one to ride comfortably. Your Bobbin is a quality kids' bike with easy-reach levers and calliper brakes. And quality is nothing without comfort and coolness, so the Gingersnap features a sprung saddle with a padded seat.

It’s okay to have questions, and we want to ensure you are all set for shopping with Bobbin. Take a look at our FAQs for the answers you’ve been looking for.

The 12" and 16" Moonbug and Gingersnap models include colour-matched stabilisers (training wheels). We do not provide training wheels for 20 and 24" wheel bikes, but it is possible to buy these separately from other retailers.

Always measure your child's inside leg and check our sizing guide before choosing the size. The age guides we give are only for general guidance, the height and inside leg are more important. If you're not sure about the sizing, contact us and we can advise. It's important to buy a bike that your child can fit on. Our Junior bikes have plenty of room for growth, as saddles and handlebars can be adjusted easily.

Your bike will be delivered to you partially assembled in a box. Assembly is really easy, and you can follow our instructions here. Assembly is normally done within 30 minutes and basic tools are included with your bike. You will need scissors and a bike pump.

It is unlikely that your child will be completely between wheel sizes, as there is some overlap between the sizes. For example, the Gingersnap 12" is for 33-43cm inside legs, and the Gingersnap 16" is for 40-54cm inside legs. Our Junior bikes have plenty of room for adjustment, with saddles and handlebars that can be adjusted easily. If in doubt, you can contact us for advice.

Bobbin bikes will fit most sizes, whether tall of petite. Don’t know your bike size? It’s really easy to find the correct fit by measuring your inside leg, from the sole of your foot to the inside of your thigh. Then check your height. To find your size, see our sizing chart here. Some of our adult bikes come in two sizes, others are one-size-fits all.

The Gingersnap 16” is one of our signature kids bikes in the Gingersnap range, designed in shape and size to suit kids aged from 4-6 years old. This classic bike is beloved by Bobbin customers and is available with training wheels to make bike rides for little ones much easier.

16-Inch Wheel Pedal Bike

An ideal bike for beginners, this Gingersnap model has 16-inch wheels which are suitably sized for young children up to around the age of 6. This wheel size and the solid cream tyres also facilitate the stylish retro look of the bike and put the bike frame at the ideal height for the attached stabilisers.

The frame itself is made from steel, which is a great material as it makes the Gingersnap both lightweight and sturdy. The chain is also covered with a protective casing that prevents children from putting their hands or fingers in places they shouldn’t!

Excellent Ride Quality

At the heart of all Bobbin bikes is a fantastic bicycle. We take the simple things seriously, from the frame design to the 16-inch wheels. This gorgeous bike includes easy-to-reach brake levers, reliable caliper brakes, and a well-engineered chain mechanism. The saddle is also fully adjustable to ensure your mini-me is always sitting at the right height.
