Kids Bikes Size Guide

Kids Bikes Size Guide

Finding the right size of kids’ bike doesn’t have to be difficult and overwhelming. Once you have the necessary information and measurements, picking out the one is easy! Below, you’ll find all the information you need.

Ages 2 to 4 Years

Kids’ bike sizing is an easy task when you know how to measure properly. If your child falls within this age range, this section is perfect for you. Grab a tape measure to measure the inside of your child’s leg, and make sure to have their shoes on.

Your and your little rider’s choice will depend on how advanced they are at riding a bicycle. You can choose between a balance bike or a bike with stabilisers.

A Bobbin balance bike is designed to help a child learn how to balance on a bike before learning to ride one. This gives them the stability they’ll need as they get older. When using one, they’ll keep their feet flat on the ground and push themselves around.

Before moving to full-sized models, make sure your kid is a confident rider. They need to have a sense of balance and be a confident pedaller.

For your child’s first pedal bike, you’d look at 12-inch kids’ bikes. Most come with stabilisers, which can help kids gain confidence before moving on to just two wheels.

If your child has an inside leg measurement of between 33cm and 45cm in length, consider these units. But if they fall above these measurements, go for bikes designed for older ones instead.

Ages 4 to 6 Years

The provided table is helpful for children aged 4 to 6. Measure your child’s inside leg length while wearing shoes. For this age range, you’ll want a 16-inch bike. Then, refer to the chart below to find the best-fitting bike size for your child.

At Bobbin, we offer a variety of sizes, ensuring you have plenty of options to choose from! One notable feature is the adjustable bike saddle position. This allows young riders to reach the pedals while seated on their two wheels with ease.

Remember, the ideal bike size is determined by their inner leg length, not just their age!

This age group has a wider variety of wheel sizes. This time, you’ll be looking for a 20-inch wheel bike. Our kids hybrid bike selection, Hornet bike, is within this range.

The size guide below will help you decide which dimension is best for kids under the age of 7 to 11. When looking for the right wheel size, try looking at 24 inch bike age. This is the perfect range for a child that would fall into this height and age range. And if you’re considering a bike size for 11 year old, look at our 26 inch bikes.
