15 Child-Friendly Bike Rides In Birmingham

Birmingham is a great place to visit for family days out and shopping with your friends, try seeing the city by bike and enjoying the sights.

Park and Track Routes

 

Cannon Hill Park - If you’re looking for plenty of nature then this path is perfect, it’s an easy-going route great for kids new to cycling.

Rea Valley Route - This path is a garden lovers haven, full of beautiful flowers and gorgeous scenery, you won’t want to miss out.

Barclaycard Arena to Galton Valley - If you’re one for history then this path is ideal, full of old buildings and facts to fill your mind with.

Perry Hall Playing Fields - Built on an old mansion ground, this path is perfect for a family day out with some fantastic sightseeing included! Don't forget your helmet for peace of mind.

Bournbrook Route - Popular amongst cyclists, joggers and families, grab your bike and head off here!

Cole Valley Route - Take this path and you’ll have a great family day out, it’s an easy-going route perfect for young kids. This is great for a varied age range and skill level.

Rea Valley Millennium Route - This route in total is just over 6 miles long and its easy-going path makes it perfect for kids!

Woodgate valley country park Loop - This loop is longer, taking around 3 hours to complete. It's 28 miles long and is mostly paved surfaces so the perfect bike is a road bike, balance bike with basket or a wide range of kids bikes. Don't forget to grab your bike helmet before you head off!
Jamboree Stone Loop (from Wylde Green) - This loop will take you on a journey of 34 miles. You'll be cycling for around 3 hours or more.
 
Selly Manor Loop from Bournville - This loop will see you pass some fantastic scenery and beautiful houses. It's 26 miles long so you'll be cycling for around 3 hours.

Waterside Routes

 

Central Birmingham Canal Ring - This route is perfect if you love waterside views!

Merritts Brook Greenway - This is a new cycle route, passing a reservoir and a vast amount of greenery. 

Harborne Walkway - Passing a vast amount of water and tunnels perfect for shade, this route is great for a family trip out.

Birmingham Canal Loop from Wake Green - This loop rides along the beautiful canal. It's around 17 miles long and would take you 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete.
Croxall Lakes Loop from Sutton Coldfield - This loop will see you pass some breathtaking waterside views. It's 34 miles long so you'll be on this cycling path for between 3 and 4 hours.
