15 Child-Friendly Bike Rides In Liverpool

Liverpool holds so much! You can visit the Liverpool museum and see all that’s on display, you could see the sights and there’s no better way to do this than to grab a bike and experience all there is.

Loops

Calderstones Park - This 4 mile long loop would take you around 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete. Since it's in a park, pedal bikes are preferred kids bikes since they offer more stability but a balance bike with basket is also a great option.

Thurstaston to West Kirby - This route would take you across some beautiful parts of Liverpool, you can even rent a bike from West Kirby Station.

Curlew Cycle Route - Taking you to see the sights of Crosby coast, this beautiful route is perfect for a family day out. A range of kids bikes are great for this cycling route.

Everton Park and the Mersey - This is a circular cycle route taking you through Everton park, great for toddlers and beginner cyclists.

Pier head Liver buildings Loop from Cressington - This loop is great if you're wanting a small challenge. It's 29 miles long and would take around 3 hours to complete. It's mostly paved surfaces so it's great for any skill level and a wide range of bikes.
The duck pond Loop from Kirkdale - This loop, as you might have guessed - passes by a beautiful duck pond. It's 21 miles long ad would take around 2 hours to complete.
 
St Lukes Bombed church Loop from Mossley Hill - This 32 mile long cycle route will see you travel past breathtaking waterside views and gorgeous historic buildings and statues. It's 32 miles long and would take around 3 hours to finish.
 
Childwall Abbey Loop (from Edge Hill) - This loop is 36 miles long and will see you travel along paved surfaces. The perfect bike for this would be a road bike, a balance bike or kids bike is also a great option here. This loop will take around 3 hours and 30 minutes to finish. 
 
Spike Island (from West Allerton) - This loop is slightly more difficult at 46 miles long. It'll take around 5 hours to complete but it is suitable for all ages and skill levels. Child and adult bikes like road bikes are ideal for a trip like this with plenty of road riding.

Trails

The Trans-Pennine Trail - This trail takes you across several different parts of the country and will land you in Liverpool. 

Otterspool Prom - This promenade offers an 8 mile long bike ride across the gorgeous views of Liverpool. Try to take a lightweight bike on your journey to make cycling easier!

Butterfly Route - Taking you through the incredible Ainsdale Sand Dunes Nature Reserve you’ll be able to see the best of Liverpool this way. Mountain bikes are a great option for any off-road trails!

Tour de Liverpool -This route is best when using mountain or hybrid bikes, you’ll be able to see plenty of Liverpool on this trip.

Ormskirk Circuit- Taking this route would lead you through plenty of heritage and scenery, ideal for taking the family to see the past. No matter your kids age range, they're sure to love this trip.

Marram Route - Cycling along the disused Chesire Line Railway will take you to see many wonderful sights.
