15 Family-Friendly Annual Bike Events In Manchester

Manchester holds so many incredible sights, what better way to experience them all other than by bike with other cyclists. Grab your adult bike and book up one of these incredible cycling events.

Manchester to Blackpool bike ride - Enjoy this 60 miles route starting at The Piazza in MediaCityUK, Salford. This is held in July with entry fees of £25.50 - £28.00 and an age limit of 14+.

The Wigan Bike Ride - Taking place in June, you’ll start and finish at Mesnes Park, taking on around 50 miles of path. There are no age restrictions on this route so feel free to take your child along!

Bike Friday  In this event, you’ll travel on a set of led commuter rides into Manchester from various starting places. They ride at a moderate pace and have experienced ride leaders so this is a great start if you’re unsure. There are no age restrictions listed for this event.

Love Your Bike Social Ride: City Centre to Home MCR via Salford - This event meets at 6pm at Manchester Central Library and then departs at 6:15pm. You’ll be riding out to Salford and back to Home MCR and there’s no need to book. There aren’t any age restrictions listed.

Manchester 100 Mile - This takes place in Sep and starts at Wythenshawe Park, Wythenshawe Rd, Manchester. You’ll enjoy 100 miles of flat or gently rolling country lanes and head through the beautiful Cheshire landscape, all in aid of the christie. The minimum age is 16 years for this event.

Love Your Bike Social Ride: Chorlton via Ashton on Mersey - This event meets at 6pm at Manchester Central Library and then departs at 6:15pm. You’ll be riding out to Salford and back to Home MCR. Make sure to bring lights and a lock for your bike, there’s no need to book. There aren’t any age restrictions listed.

Be Well Community - Intermediate Ride - Robin Park -  This event takes up to 3 hours all whilst covering approximately 12 -18 miles. Places are limited for this ride so you’ll need to book. There are no age restrictions listed for this event.

Love Your Bike Social Rides: Irwell Valley, Ringley This is great for everyone who enjoys cycling. You’ll meet 6pm at Manchester Central Library, then depart at 6:15pm. There are no age restrictions listed for this event.

Tour de Manc - This gorgeous event takes place in April. You’ll have a choice of the Classic, Mad, Half or Quarter route, all starting at around £38. Anyone under 16 will need someone over the age of 18 with them.

Love Your Bike Social Ride: Irk Valley, Heaton Park, the Woodthorpe - This event rides at a sociable pace so you’re free to enjoy the ride. You’ll meet at around 6pm in the city centre and there's no need to book. There are no age restrictions listed for this event.

North Peaks Gravel Epic - This bike ride is great if you’re looking for a park ride. This is a very popular event in the Peak District.

The Big Ride Home - This ride happens yearly and it takes place in September each year.

Learn to Ride - If you’re wanting to gain confidence in your cycling skills then this is ideal. You’ll ride with a qualified instructor and get your confidence up.

South Manchester Triathalon - A triathlon is a great way to get your love of sport into an event. This takes place in September on Station Road.

Go Velo’s - This sporting event takes place in April of each year and offers a great day out for the family.
