Ordering outside of the UK

You will be responsible for any local customs and duty taxes.
Once your order has been shipped, your courier will contact you directly for payment if applicable. Bobbin is not responsible for your goods if you chose to not pay these charges. If you refuse delivery of your item and the courier has to send it back to us, we may have to deduct accordingly from your refund, in order to cover the extra shipping charges. Please note that unwanted items can only be refunded once they arrive back at our dispatch centre.
Delivery times may be affected occasionally by factors outside our control such as customs delays and checks.  If you have a deadline - a birthday for example - make sure you order well in advance to avoid stress or disappointment.  As our delivery times are estimates, they are not binding, therefore you are not entitled to any refund in case the parcel was not delivered on the pre-agreed date.

How It Works

Link for payment

UK VAT is Removed

UK VAT is removed by us at checkout but you are responsible for customs charges and other import taxes and fees payable to receive goods in your country.
Link for payment

Link for Payment

The courier will email you a link to request payment of these charges by email or text and they will detail the import duties, taxes and the handling fees.
Customs clearance and Delivery

Customs Clearance and Delivery

Once you have successfully paid the import charges, your shipment will be customs cleared, released and passed to a courier for delivery to your designated destination. If customs and duty charges are applicable and you do not pay these, your order may be returned or destroyed by customs.

What are import duties and taxes?

Customs duty

Customs duty

Customs duty is a tax imposed on goods when they are transported across international borders. This is charged as a percentage of your product’s value.
Import VAT

Import VAT

Import VAT is a tax paid on goods purchased from another country outside the European Union. It applies to shipping and duty costs too.
Handling fees from the courier

Handling fees from the courier

This is the costs of the extra admin they have to do when taking items through customs.

Example: How Customs/Duty Charges are Calculated

Gingersnap 16" wheel: £195 (£154.17 with no VAT) Shipping Zone 1: £30
Customs duty rate on bicycles
14%
Import VAT
typically 20%-21%
Handling fee
from £11 (depending on courier)
  • The customs duty rate on bicycles is 14 % of the value of the goods and the postage: (£162.50 + £30) x 0.14 = £26.95.
  • The amount of VAT is 21 % of the taxable amount for import VAT: (£162.50 + £30 + £26.95 + £11) x 0.21 = £48.40.

The total import duties = £26.95 + £48.40 = £75.34. This will be payable in local currency.

Starling Helmet: £29.50 (no VAT) Shipping Zone 1: £25
Customs duty rate on helmet
2.8% (Orders up to £135 are not subject to duty at customs)
Import VAT
typically 20%-21%
Handling fee
from £6 (depending on courier)
  • The amount of VAT is 21 % of the taxable amount for import VAT: (£29.50 + £25 + £6) x 0.21 = £13.23.

The total import duties = £13.23. This will be payable in local currency.

Please note that we have no control over these charges and cannot predict their amount. Customs policies vary widely from country to country. Please contact your local customs office for further information.
