Finding the correct size bike starts with measuring the legs. Take a measuring tape, place it on the floor inside the leg and measure upwards. Now check the chart below.

    Frame size S/M

    Frame size M/L

    Inside Leg

    25.6" - 33.5"
    65cm - 85cm

    30" - 37.5"
    76cm - 96cm

    Rider Height

    5'2" - 5'7"
    157cm - 170cm

    5'6" - 5'10"
    167.5cm - 178cm

Rider heights are given as a guide only. Everyone has different length legs, regardless of height. We strongly recommend measuring the inside leg before choosing the size!

If you can fit on either size:

    • Choose S/M if you are a nervous rider and/or want an easy “nippy” shopping bike.
    • Choose M/L if you are a confident rider and/or looking for a “dutch-style” bike. It has bigger wheels and a higher centre of gravity.

    Compatibility: Birdie & Carriers

    Bike Size

    Front Carrier D

    Front Carrier E

    Rear Lightweight Urban Carrier(1)

    Frame size S/M

    Frame size M/L

    (1) - The Birdie 7 has a rear carrier rack. You can attach any of our rear baskets and pannier bags on to this. The carrier rack has a maximum weight limit of 15kg. This is not strong enough for rack-mounted childseats, which require a 25g limit. Our Lightweight Urban Carrier Rack is suitable.

All our front baskets and bags fit onto the Birdie 7. Large baskets like Allotment Large and Cambridge need support underneath. Check each basket page for compatible supports.

Front headlamps can be mounted onto the fork if you don’t have a basket (there isn’t enough space for both).

Assembling your bike is empowering. It’s a great way to understand how it works! Please click here to view our step by step guide to assembly. View our assembly video here.

    • The bike arrives in a box. The handlebars, front wheel, front mudguard and pedals must be attached.
    • You will need a multi-tool or hex key set, 10mm spanner, 15mm wrench, scissors, pliers, a screwdriver and a pump.

    Some things to note:

    • Select "Click and Collect” or “Mobile Mechanic" (London M25) in the check-out if you want free assembly.
    • If you assemble your own bike, it’s very important that you do it correctly. If you have doubts, pay your local bike mechanic to check over your handiwork or assemble it for you.
    • In the first few weeks of use, you can expect your bike to ‘bed-in’. You must check everything is tight before each ride. Cables will stretch so your gears and brakes will need adjustment.
